Last weekend after a long break, due to lockdowns, I was finally able to get out to explore!
This one is a long forgotten gravesite for trains, the construction for this started in 1904 and was completed in 1912. The station and tunnel closed in 1976 following a freight train derailment. Now the tunnel is used to store disused loads and freight trains, unfortunately there are no plans for the train line they are just left to rot.
I really enjoyed this impromptu explore, we had a lovely spring day for it. It was so mesmerising walking along a train track beside these huge trailers just turning into a pile of rust. As always the tunnel and tracks were littered with graffiti and rubbish and as we were leaving we noticed what looked like police officers walking down the tracks, so we swiftly made an exit, I’ve heard of rumours about this place that the farmer isn’t too kind to visitors so we didn’t hang around too long.
Overall, it was so great to get back to exploring and as restrictions ease hopefully this will be the first of many to come for this year!!
