Newport Tower Hotel used to be a popular respite before it closed in 2007, due to the M5 creating a faster route to peoples destinations, and has been in despair ever since. It is covered in graffiti and has some fire damage from an arson attack in April last year, and like most of these places most of the contents are gone with lots of damage to the remaining structures. Most of the floor boards on the second floor have been removed so there was a little bit of parkour involved while exploring.

There are plans that were approved in 2019 to develop 39 new homes however due to COVID-19 this has been put on hold.

During my research of the hotel, I found out that a fire broke out and the hotel was up in a blaze of flames, this was only 12 hours after my visit. Emergency services were at the scene trying to stabilise the building and its remaining structure, police suspect arson as the cause of the fire. I do feel very lucky to have visited the structure before the blaze, I honestly don’t understand why people destroy these beautiful buildings.
