C is for Crystal

This letter has been the hardest for me so far. My initial idea was crystal so I was looking around in Hobbycraft and couldn’t find anything so I purchased some garden lights from Home Bargains thinking the cracked glass and the crystal like effect of the lights would give the same effect that I’ve seen crystals give on photographs, this was not the case, it gave more of a fishbowl effect which was not what I was going for. I ended up just staring at them hoping some inspiration would spark, but nothing. So I purchased some crystals and a prism from amazon… unfortunately I accidentally sent them to my parents address and not my new address, so the crystal idea was a no go. Below are my failures, I think it’s important to share your failures as it is something to learn from and you can always look back and know how to improve.

So plan B! C is for Camera

I discovered the love for photography when I was about 10 and I got my first point and shoot for my birthday. I then had my first DSLR when I was 13, I was always snapping photos of my family and pets, I went on to study Photography in college and fell in-love with it even more. Photography is one of those things that allows you to grow and develop; It takes trial and error to know what you like to capture and what you don’t like. For me, I’ve never really liked portraiture, always found it quite boring but during doing this alphabet series I have gained a new found appreciation for portrait photographers, there is a lot more that goes into it than you think. Even though this is not the direction I expected to go for this letter, I am relatively happy with the end results.
